Komachiya is located 1 minute from Higashiyama subway station and 10 minutes from Sanjo station. It is 10 minutes walk from the Gion area and many Kyoto sightseeing spots like Kiyomizudera, Yasaka Shrine, Nanzenji and Chion-in. The main entertainment area of Kyoto is about 15 minutes walk or one subway stop . Komachiya is in a local shopping arcade.

The facilities and amenities available in the townhouse consist of kitchen, bathroom and 2 modern and new toilets. The 4 sleeping and 2 sitting rooms are all traditional Japanese tatami rooms with a communal “doma” ante-room with dining table and chairs. There is a view of a small Japanese garden from the back rooms and the bathroom.

Komachiya is not a hotel but a rental townhouse. It is a traditional Kyoto “Machiya” townhouse which Kyoto is famous for. The traditional Kyoto domestic experience can be enjoyed by renting the whole house that can accommodate 2-7 people . The exterior of the townhouse is like a Kyoto house from the Edo period.
